The Federal Government has announced that it will arraign top executives of MultiChoice Nigeria Limited and Qatar Airways, including their chairmen and CEOs, on October 7, 2025, over alleged violations of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, fixed the date after the absence of the defendants stalled proceedings on Monday due to improper service of court documents, including the hearing notices.
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), represented by its counsel Chizenum Nsitem, applied for an adjournment to ensure proper service before the next hearing.
Among those to be arraigned are Adewunmi Ogunsanya, Chairman of MultiChoice Nigeria, and John Ugbe, the company’s Managing Director/CEO. Others include MultiChoice Africa Holdings CEO Fhulufhelo Badugela, Chief Financial Officer Retiel Tromp, Group Executive for Corporate Affairs Keabetswe Modimoeng, as well as top officials Adebusola Bello, Fuad Ogunsanya, and Gozie Onumonu.
The company itself is also listed as a defendant.
Similarly, the FCCPC has listed the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, Mr. Temi Birdzell, for arraignment alongside Account Manager Stella Ihediwa, Country Manager Kennedy Chirchir, and Sales Manager Eva Ojeje.
Nsitem told the court that while Qatar Airways as a company has been served, four of its officers are yet to be personally served with court documents.
Justice Omotosho adjourned both matters till October 7, 2025, for arraignment and plea-taking.
