Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 general elections, stating that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leader have lost the goodwill of Nigerians.

Speaking in a recent interview shared on X, the former APC stalwart turned Social Democratic Party (SDP) chieftain declared that it was “impossible” for President Tinubu to win a second term, citing widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration’s performance.

“Anybody that thinks it is possible for President Bola Tinubu to get re-elected is living in another country, not Nigeria,” El-Rufai said.

According to him, a coalition of opposition figures is already gaining ground and building momentum to dislodge the APC from power in 2027.

Among the emerging figures in the anti-Tinubu alliance are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, both of whom have reportedly been in talks with El-Rufai and other political actors dissatisfied with the status quo.

El-Rufai maintained that recent defections into the APC do not reflect genuine public support but rather the desperation of politicians seeking favours or trying to avoid anti-graft scrutiny.

“It is greedy and hungry politicians and those looking for contracts, appointments, and soft landings that are defecting,” he said. “Our focus is not on these people, but on the voters. We believe the 2027 elections will be between the APC and the Nigerian people.”

The former governor, who played a prominent role in Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign, has become increasingly critical of the administration’s handling of the economy and governance.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government continues to defend its record, with the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, reiterating that reforms initiated by Tinubu are laying the groundwork for long-term stability.
