The Director-General and CEO of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has embarked on a strategic visit to the headquarters of Schneider Electric in Grenoble, France, in a move aimed at deepening global energy partnerships and accelerating Nigeria’s energy transition.

The high-level engagement was facilitated by Mr. Ajibola Akindele, MFR, the Country President of Schneider Electric West Africa, and underscores the strengthening collaboration between Nigeria’s top energy policy agency and one of the world’s leading firms in energy management and automation.

Joining Dr. Abdullahi on the visit was Prince Ade Omole, a respected Nigerian diaspora leader and a key figure in promoting foreign direct investment into Nigeria. His participation in the visit reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to leveraging international expertise and diaspora influence to drive innovation and reform in the power sector.

The Nigerian team was received by Mr. Thomas Bonicel, Schneider Electric’s Director of Access to Energy, who led a guided tour of the company’s cutting-edge IntenCity complex—ranked among the top three net-zero energy buildings globally. The delegation also received a presentation from Ms. Gaelle Gabard, Customer Experience Director, who gave detailed insights into the design, construction, and operations of the facility. The IntenCity model is being considered as a reference point for Nigeria’s proposed “Energy House” project.

During discussions, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to improving access to energy in Nigeria through the deployment of renewable technologies and smart energy solutions. Dr. Abdullahi hailed Schneider Electric for its global leadership and technological innovation, stressing that their collaboration aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and Nigeria’s development priorities.

“This partnership is key to meeting Nigeria’s growing energy demands while building capacity and ensuring long-term sustainability,” Abdullahi said.
