The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference (GVTHC) returns this weekend with a special Democracy-themed edition, featuring the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Henry Dele Alake, as guest speaker.
The June 12 Special Edition of the interactive global forum is scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 14, 2025, under the theme: “June 12 and Beyond: Guarding the Soul of Democracy in a Changing World.”
This marks the first edition since the high-profile celebration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two years in office, which took place at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Aso Villa. The event, themed “Two Years of Renewed Hope: Honouring Mr. President and the Voice of Renewed Hope,” brought together top government officials, diaspora leaders, and key stakeholders to honour President Tinubu’s reform driven governance and policy achievements.
Chairman of the Renewed Hope Global, Ambassador J.K. Adebola, in a post-event message, had assured the public of the platform’s continued commitment to fostering civic dialogue.
Saturday’s virtual town hall will spotlight Nigeria’s democratic journey, with Dr. Dele Alake renowned journalist, democracy advocate, and key figure in the June 12 struggle addressing Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
Alake, who served as editor of Sunday Concord during the early 1990s, played a pivotal role in championing the democratic mandate of the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, the presumed winner of the 1993 annulled presidential election. As a close ally and communication strategist to Abiola, Alake became one of the loudest voices in the pro-democracy movement during the military era.
The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall has evolved into a vibrant platform for policy feedback and citizen engagement, fostering transparent dialogue between public officials and Nigerians across the globe.
The event will run from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (Nigeria and UK time) and will feature a one-hour interactive Q&A session, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with the Honourable Minister on issues around democracy, governance, and solid minerals development.
