Senator Husain promises better Osun as he joins millions of Nigerians in commemorating June 12, a day steeped in national pride, remembrance, and the enduring quest for democratic justice.

It was on this very day in 1993 that Nigerians set aside ethnic and religious differences to vote overwhelmingly for Chief M.K.O. Abiola in what is still regarded as the fairest presidential election in Nigeria’s history.

The aftermath of that annulled election led to a season of anguish, resistance, and martyrdom—but also the birth of a democratic awakening that still defines the nation’s spirit.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose political journey is intertwined with June 12, stood among the few who paid the price for democracy.

As a member of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Tinubu fought the military dictatorship, survived exile, and kept the June 12 flame alive.

His advocacy helped institutionalise the remembrance of June 12 first in Lagos and later across Nigeria, culminating in its designation as the national Democracy Day in 2018. His presidency in 2023 is considered by many as a continuation of that vision M.K.O. Abiola once embodied.

In Osun State, Senator Mudashiru Oyetunde Husain, a frontline governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, aligns himself with the spirit of June 12.

He used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to Osun’s democratic advancement through inclusive, people-centred leadership.

A seasoned lawmaker, Senator Husain’s public service history is rooted in integrity, performance, and dedication.

As a former House of Representatives member and Senator representing Osun West, his tenure was distinguished by pragmatic interventions in infrastructure, education, agriculture, and health.

“Democracy is not a one-day event; it is a covenant of service. June 12 reminds us of that covenant. My promise to Osun is rooted in Irorun De, a future of comfort built on justice, competence, and compassion,” Senator Husain stated.

His leadership ethos, marked by grassroots accessibility and results-oriented governance, resonates with Osun’s diverse population.

In his previous roles, he facilitated federal road construction, installed boreholes, renovated schools, and empowered youths through vocational support and agriculture.

Now, as Osun prepares for another democratic transition, Senator Husain’s vision is gaining momentum.

His agenda addresses economic revival, employment creation, education reform, and community security—all framed in a language the people understand and trust.

His Irorun De mantra is not a mere slogan but a policy direction focused on local solutions and sustained development.
