President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that his rift with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is officially over, following weeks of speculation of a possible rift.

Reports earlier, indicated that Sanwo-Olu and members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) paid a visit to Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos, as part of a Sallah homage.

The GAC, regarded as the highest decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, accompanied the governor for the visit.

During the closed-door meeting, Tinubu received members of the body who came to plead on behalf of Sanwo-Olu and others believed to have fallen out of favour.

According to sources present at the meeting, the GAC delegation, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, openly acknowledged the President’s displeasure with key figures in Lagos politics — particularly Governor Sanwo-Olu.

In his remarks, Olusi reportedly appealed for forgiveness, stating that it was evident the President had been unhappy with certain persons in the state.

Responding to the entreaties, President Tinubu is said to have told the gathering: “It’s all over now. All is forgiven.”

The declaration prompted Governor Sanwo-Olu and other GAC members to reportedly prostrate before the President in a show of remorse and respect.

Sources familiar with the meeting emphasized that no explanations or justifications were offered by either side regarding the recent tension. “They just pleaded for outright mercy on behalf of the governor, and the President granted it,” one insider revealed.

The encounter comes after a widely circulated video showed President Tinubu appearing to snub Governor Sanwo-Olu during the commissioning of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway on May 31.

That moment, alongside several others in which the governor was excluded from official activities, fueled speculation of a serious political fallout between the longtime allies.
