The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Thursday, disclaimed a report purportedly issued in its name and presented as ‘a mid-term assessment’ of the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu.

Afenifere, in a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, explained that “The said report was not issued by it and should be disregarded by members of the public.”

Ajayi stated that the organisation understood the challenges Nigerians are facing, adding that it has, from time to time, drawn the attention of those in government to areas needing urgent action, with suggestions given on how to tackle them.

“We also understand that steps are being taken by the government to tackle these challenges with a view not only to bringing relief to suffering Nigerians but also to putting in place frameworks that will guarantee a sound future for the country and the people.

“We shall continue to offer our support and advice, through established channels, to ensure an all-round success for the benefit of the teeming masses of our people,” it said.

Afenifere expressed hope that as the third year begins, the high cost of transportation and food items will soon be brought down considerably, while security in parts of the country would be strengthened through, among other steps, the prompt take-off of the state police.
