According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the blast occurred around 2:50 p.m. Prompt response teams from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit were deployed to the scene, and the affected area was swiftly cordoned off to enable clearance operations and forensic analysis.

The lone male victim was immediately rescued and is receiving medical care at a nearby hospital. Authorities say his condition is being closely monitored.

While the exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation, the FCT Police Command has launched a comprehensive probe to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

SP Adeh assured the public that there is no immediate cause for alarm and urged residents to remain calm but vigilant. She encouraged people to report any suspicious activity or objects to the authorities using the emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08028940883, and 07057337653.

The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining peace across the FCT.
