Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Newsnight on Monday, Badeh said, “We’ve gotten to the bottom of it.

“The final report should be out sometime this year, but we pretty much have an idea of what happened.”

In October 2024, a Sikorsky SK76 helicopter operated by East Wind Aviation and contracted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited plunged into the Atlantic Ocean near Bonny Finima, off the coast of Calabar.

The accident occurred at approximately along the waterways near Bonny Finima in the Atlantic Ocean, while the helicopter was en route from Port Harcourt Military Base to the NUIMANTAN oil rig.

The helicopter, with registration number 5N-BQG, was operated by East Wind Aviation and contracted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

The crash involved eight people on board, including two crew members and six passengers.

However, only five bodies were recovered after the incident.

Following the crash, the NSIB recovered the black box, which includes both the Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder, from a helicopter that crashed in Port Harcourt.
