This was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by the spokesperson of the House, Hon. Akin Rotimi.

According to the weekly notice paper released by the Chairman, House Committee on Rules and Business, Hon. Francis Waive, the event will commence at 11:00 a.m. at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

Since its inauguration, the 10th House, under the leadership of Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, has mourned the passing of five lawmakers.

They include Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, who represented Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State and served as the immediate past Deputy Chief Whip until her death in January 2025.

Others are Hon. Abdulkadir Danbuga (Isa/Sabon Birni, Sokoto), who passed away in October 2023; Hon. Isa Dogonyaro (Garki/Babura, Jigawa), who died in May 2024; Hon. Olaide Akinremi (Ibadan North, Oyo), who passed in July 2024; and Hon. Ekene Adams (Chikun/Kajuru, Kaduna), who also died in July 2024.

Families of the deceased lawmakers, alongside members of the National Assembly, party leaders, and other dignitaries are expected to grace the solemn occasion.

“The commemoration will feature tributes, personal reflections, observances of silence, and other ceremonial rites in the chamber, in line with parliamentary tradition,” the statement read.

The Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, in a session agenda circulated to members, noted that tributes will be led by the Speaker, Principal Officers, and selected colleagues, with remarks also expected from invited guests and party leaders.

Rotimi noted that each of the deceased lawmakers played a critical role in shaping legislative debates through motions, bills, committee engagements, and direct constituency representation.

He described their deaths as not just personal losses, but institutional moments of mourning that underscore the burden of leadership and the transient nature of life.

“As the 10th Assembly approaches its midterm in June 2025, this session offers an opportunity for sober reflection, national remembrance, and a renewed commitment to the values of public service,” Rotimi added.
