ABUJA – Former Vice Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West, Dr Eddy Olafeso, has issued a stern warning to individuals undermining efforts to revitalise the party, declaring that karma will catch up with them.

Olafeso, who was inducted into the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), spoke during a chat in Abuja, where he emphasized the need for unity and discipline to reposition the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Expressing excitement about his induction into the BoT, Olafeso described it as a new beginning for the party.

He said, “We thank God Almighty that we have gotten this far. It’s a regeneration of the glorious past, and we are doing everything possible to ensure that from this moment on, the PDP can continue to perform its duty as an opposition party across the country. New ideas, new people, new orientation. With the quality of leadership and the heritage of the past, we can make Nigeria better than it is today.”

The former Vice Chairman also addressed the party’s prospects for the 2027 elections, expressing optimism about the PDP’s ability to return to ‘greater heights.’

He pointed to the recent return of governors and other key members to the BoT as a positive sign of unity and progress.

“You are living witnesses to all the governors that we had issues with returning to be members of the BoT. It speaks volumes. That’s the sign of the moment. We are going to return to greater heights. You can trust us,” he stated.

Olafeso, known for resigning from his position to contest for the governorship of Ondo State, stressed the importance of discipline and adherence to the party’s constitution.

He said, “I’m a democrat to the core. There’s no reason for me to hold the party down. If I want to go to another position, I must leave that position as directed by the constitution. Things will work better. Discipline is part of democracy. Commitment is part of democracy. And we must adjust to the fact that we can’t act the way we want to act without considering the impact on the population.”

However, Olafeso did not shy away from addressing the issue of internal sabotage, warning that those undermining the party’s revival efforts would face consequences.

“Time we catch up with them. If you’re sabotaging where you are, somebody will sabotage you where you’re going. It’s a matter of fact,” he stated.
