Lawmakers in the Osun State House of Assembly have endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The 26-member Assembly passed a vote of confidence in the governor’s leadership during Tuesday’s plenary session.

The motion was moved by Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, representing Obokun State Constituency, and seconded by Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola from Ede South Constituency.

The endorsement, supported by 25 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC), comes as Governor Adeleke celebrates his 65th birthday.

Speaker of the House, Adewale Egbedun, who presided over the session, praised the governor’s performance in office, describing his administration as people-focused and results-driven. He said Adeleke had shown a strong commitment to his five-point development agenda.

As representatives of the people, the Speaker said the lawmakers were proud of the governor’s leadership and encouraged him to continue his good work.

Hon. Simeon Popoola, representing Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency, also spoke in support of the motion. He described Governor Adeleke as a man of integrity.

“Politics aside, Mr Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance,” Popoola said.

Following the remarks, the Speaker put the motion to a voice vote, which was unanimously adopted by the House.
