The Osun Progressive Union (OPU) has made a passionate appeal to Senator Mudashiru Oyetunde Husain to join the race for the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, declaring that his achievements in the education sector during his time at the National Assembly are compelling enough to entrust him with the leadership of the state.

The group, under the leadership of Hon. Jacob Ogunseye, described Senator Husain as “a proven reformer who brought dignity, access, and stability to education in Osun West,” adding that his experience is urgently needed to restore ‘IRORUN’ comfort and ease to Osun State’s struggling education sector.

The group recalled how, during his four year stint in the Senate, Senator Husain facilitated the construction of modern classroom blocks equipped with toilets, boreholes, and staff rooms across multiple communities in Ejigbo, Iwo, Iragberi, and Ikire.

He renovated notable schools like St. Luther’s College in Ile Ogbo and Baptist Grammar School in Ejigbo, while also providing hundreds of WAEC and JAMB forms to indigent students.

“Senator Husain did not just build schools; he built futures,” Ogunseye said. “He gave our children access to safe, conducive learning environments. His impact was not on paper; it was felt in classrooms, in communities, and in the lives of families.”

According to OPU, the current challenges in Osun’s education system ranging from dilapidated infrastructure to poor teacher welfare and a lack of innovation demand a tested and visionary leader. The group expressed confidence that Husain possesses the competence to reposition the sector, just as he did across Osun West.

“Osun does not need experiments; we need results. We need a governor who understands what it means to deliver. Senator Husain has walked that path before. It is time for him to do it again for the entire Osun State.”
