The announcement was made during the Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference – Youth Edition, where the minister engaged directly with youths on government interventions designed to encourage empowerment and innovation.

According to Olawande, the Nigerian Youth Academy will serve as a hub for skills acquisition, leadership training, and entrepreneurship development, ensuring that young people are prepared for the evolving job market.

“This academy is designed to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing young Nigerians with practical skills that will make them employable and self-sufficient,” he said.

He further revealed that the academy will offer training in digital skills, vocational trades, leadership development, and business incubation, positioning youths to thrive in a competitive economy.

The initiative, alongside the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund and the Nigerian Youth Help Desk, forms part of a broader strategy to empower young Nigerians beyond government palliatives.

Barrister Tosin Olayinka, host of the Youth Edition, moderated the session and commended participants for their active engagement and innovative contributions.

He encouraged young Nigerians to come prepared with ideas in future editions, emphasising that “this administration values fresh perspectives, and those who come ready with solutions may find unexpected opportunities.”

The chief host, Ambassador J.K. Adebola, applauded the Honourable Minister for his commitment to youth empowerment, stating, “Comrade Olawande has proven to be an active and passionate leader who prioritises the needs of young Nigerians.”

Participants at the virtual conference hailed the initiative, describing it as a “game changer” in the country’s youth development agenda. Some young innovators at the event also received positive feedback from industry leaders and policymakers, opening doors for potential collaborations.

Dignitaries such as Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria; His Royal Majesty, Oba Famorikan of Epe, Lagos State; and Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director-General, Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), were also present at the event.
