The president condoled with family members who lost loved ones in the inferno, which happened at the peak hour.

He also ordered that priority treatment be given to the injured in various medical facilities in the capital city.

He directed security agencies, particularly those concerned with road safety, to pay closer attention to traffic around the capital city’s entry and exit points.

Tinubu, however, prayed for the souls of the departed and the grace of the Almighty God to comfort families that have lost their loved ones.

Meanwhile, the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD) has confirmed that 10 people lost their lives in the tragic truck explosion that occurred at Karu Bridge along the Abuja-Keffi Expressway.

According to Mr. Mark Nyam, Head of Forecasting, Response, and Mitigation at FEMD, the victims’ bodies were deposited at different hospitals: eight at Karu Hospital Morgue; one at Asokoro District Hospital Morgue; and one at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Over 30 people suffered severe burns, with many transferred to Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital, Federal Medical Centre Keffi, and Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja for specialised treatment.

At least 10 vehicles were burnt in the explosion, which occurred after a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) truck lost control and crashed into other vehicles.

Following a visit to the accident scene, the Acting Director General of FEMD, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules and avoid reckless driving, dangerous overtaking, and poor vehicle maintenance.

He also reminded FCT residents to use the 112 emergency toll-free number to report accidents and other emergencies promptly.

Emergency responders continue rescue and recovery operations, as authorities investigate the cause of the explosion.
