The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a suspect identified as Oju, who allegedly stabbed his wife, Josephine Isaac, to death in a tragic case of domestic violence in Agbure Community, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, March 6. The case was reported to the Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters around 9:30 a.m. by the victim’s younger sister, Isaac Blessing.

Blessing recounted that at about 1:00 a.m., Josephine and her husband, Oju, who hails from Calabar, got into a violent altercation. The dispute escalated, leading the suspect to stab his wife multiple times in the neck and chest. Realizing the severity of her injuries, he fled the scene, leaving her bleeding profusely.

Neighbors rushed the victim to Ibiade General Hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Detectives from the Abigi Division responded swiftly, visiting the crime scene and recovering potential evidence. The victim’s body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, while investigations are ongoing.

The police have transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further inquiry. Meanwhile, efforts are in place to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

The Ogun State Police Command condemned the act of domestic violence and urged residents to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes.

The public has been advised to report any suspected cases of domestic abuse to law enforcement agencies or emergency hotlines for prompt intervention.

Authorities are calling on anyone with relevant information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward, assuring the public that justice will be served.
