Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has advised former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to move on from his ministerial disappointment, saying there is no need to keep dwelling on the matter.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Onanuga urged El-Rufai to let go of any grievances and focus on the future. His remarks came in response to El-Rufai’s recent interview on Arise TV, where the former governor claimed that President Bola Tinubu personally withdrew his ministerial nomination, contrary to the widely held belief that the National Assembly was responsible.

El-Rufai had stated that Tinubu initially urged him to join his administration but later had a change of heart. “I’ve done my part and moved on,” El-Rufai had said, though his continued criticism of the government suggests otherwise.

Reacting to the claims, Onanuga acknowledged that El-Rufai may feel disappointed after playing a key role in Tinubu’s election victory. However, he insisted that the issue should no longer be a topic of concern.

“It’s natural for him to feel that way, but this happened a long time ago. He should let it go and move on,” Onanuga said.

The presidential aide also stressed that President Tinubu holds no grudge against El-Rufai, recalling that the President recently praised his contributions in a birthday message.

“Life is about opportunities, and not everyone can be included at the same time. It’s time for El-Rufai to look ahead rather than keep revisiting the past,” Onanuga added.
