Keen observers of developments in the nation political sphere would not be disappointed at vituperations and ranting of the quartet of El-Rufai, Amaechi, Aregbesola and Fayemi at APC, the ruling party and even, to the president.
In recent times, they’ve all seized the platforms of an Annual Abuja Political Conference and other different political fora they’re separately invited, to recklessly express their frustrations in the ways and manners they opined the party is being run, leadership style of the president, as well as mindlessly critiquing the programs and policies of the government.
But, the politically discerning Nigerians are fully aware that the disgruntled politicians were just out to heat up the polity, by making mountain out of a molehill, as the position they’ve taken was rooted in their frustration and regrets for been completely alienated and barricaded from the governance and seat of power on account of their political sins bothering on insolence, arrogance, disloyalty and indiscretion.
Nigerians could understand that, the quartet, having hugged and romanced power at the highest levels, having been governors and ministers, for several years and still desire to be involved and now been ignored by the president, have now collaboratively resolved to draw the battle line.
But, who would blame the president for keeping them at arm’s length?
Engaging Rotimi Amaechi in government is as good as putting flame of fire on the roof. Any president appointing him to a position of power and authority does so at his own peril. He is combustible. He is non-conformist. Of course, the former Rivers State helmsman is a tempestuous and fair-weather politician. Nigerians recall vividly how he completely truncated the second term bid of former president, Goodluck Jonathan, practically worked against his interest in the Niger Delta Region during the 2015 presidential polls. Of course, Rotimi Amaechi was absolutely uncontrollable as Minister during the 8th year’s tenure of former president, Muhammud Buhari.
Of course, Mallam El-Rufai is not a shade better. In-fact, he shares similar traits with Rotimi Amaechi, only that they’re not from the same Geo-political zone. He’s also a person who has sense of self-entitlement and if not given, would be deploying every resources within his disposal to bring the roof down. His dastard enterprise in Kaduna South throughout his 8th years reign as governor of the state gives him out as someone who can no longer be trusted with sensitive office at upper echelon in the 21st Century.
For Kayode Fayemi, it’s a case of biting the fingers that fed him. The former Ekiti state governor would have remained anonymous and an obscure personality forever in the Nigerian political sphere, if not for the grace and compassion he enjoyed from the president. With zero resource base, no political bloc, no logistics whatsoever, Fayemi suddenly appeared as governor of Ekiti state, absolutely from nowhere. Even after his governorship tenure, his ascendance to the office of Minister of solid minerals was also at the behest of the president. This is the awkward story of former Minister who is now running from pillar to post to unhorse and undo the president during the forthcoming 2027 presidential elections, collaborating with political foes and band of disgruntled elements.
And, Rauf Aregbesola is one Nigerian Bola Tinubu picked practically from the street to become Commissioner of Works and Infrastructures in Lagos, the juiciest portfolio in Lagos state. He blossomed and flourished in this office for 8 eight years. Tinubu wasn’t finished with him. He deployed all resources within his disposal to install him as Governor of Osun state, against all odds of federal might rooted in massive electoral rigging, until Law Court upturned Obasanjo’s orchestrated victory for Aregbesola to emerge as governor. It’s the same Tinubu who nominated him for the Minister of Interior under the immediate past Buhari presidency.
It’s instructive to note that, presently, all the assessed 4 politicians above have lost their political influence and goodwill in their political domains to win any election, whatsoever.
Amaechi has for long been thoroughly decimated in Rivers state by Wike political machinery. El-Rufai is no longer relevant in Kaduna state politics. He’s no longer calling the shot in the state, as the leadership of the party has been ceded to the state governor. If he dares the submission of this writer, let him go back to Kaduna state to contest for senatorial slot and Nigerians would see if he would not be humiliated and dismantled. Of course, Fayemi has never been a political factor in Ekiti state, if not for the people of electoral influence and fortunes that Tinubu always surrounded him with, anytime he contests. Presently, on account of arrogance, overreach, insolence, disloyalty and causing uproar, Aregbesola has been expelled in Osun APC, and his case is now that of a fish out of the water.
The above reasons account for why disgruntled and frustrated politicians have taken Abuja political fora and other platforms outside their political domains to be talking ill of government programs and policies, as well as childishly, unintelligently and recklessly attacking the office of President, Commander-in-Chief, Armed Forces of Nigeria.
May be, it’s an auspicious time for the president to deploy the awesome power and authority resides in that office against them and make it unequivocally clear to them that, OGA NA MASTER!
Maybe this would be bringing orderliness and normalcy to their sense of behavior!
