In a statement by Angela Olanrewaju, Coordinating Head of Corporate Services on Thursday, February 5, IBEDC clarified that the event in question was not a strike but a picket organized by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE).

According to the company, the union’s concerns included the alleged unfair dismissal of certain employees and other welfare-related issues.

However, IBEDC maintained that the affected staff members were let go due to consistent poor performance, with all terminations carried out in accordance with the company’s Conditions of Service.

“IBEDC remains dedicated to the well-being of its employees and has consistently ensured that salaries are paid in full every month, despite the economic challenges in the country,” the statement read.

The company urged customers and stakeholders across its franchise areas to disregard any misleading reports suggesting that its operations have been halted due to a strike.

IBEDC further reaffirmed its commitment to providing a positive work environment and upholding the interests of both employees and customers while ensuring uninterrupted electricity distribution services to its customers.
