A horrific crime has shaken the Nnewichi community in Nnewi, Anambra State, as three siblings—aged 5, 7, and 9—were brutally murdered and their bodies hidden in a deep freezer by unknown assailants.

The victims, identified as Ejezie Chikaima Daviana, Ejezie Chimziterem Dominica, and Ejezie Chimdilim David, were alone at home when the attack occurred. Their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, a lecturer and nurse, had stepped out for an examination, leaving the children in their house—a bungalow they shared with two tenants and a landlord.

Upon returning, Mrs. Ejezie was alarmed to find the front door wide open, a deviation from her children’s usual practice of securing the entrance while playing outside. A frantic search ensued, with family members combing the neighborhood and even the local church where the children served as altar servers. However, all efforts proved futile until a chilling discovery was made—the lifeless bodies of the three children were found inside the deep freezer.

Their father, Mr. Ejezie Udochukwu, who was in Irrua, Edo State, at the time, received the heartbreaking news from his wife and rushed back to Nnewichi. Describing the gruesome scene, he recounted how traces of food left in abandoned plates indicated the children had been having a meal when their attackers struck around midday.

Law enforcement authorities have since taken charge of the investigation. The Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a thorough probe.

Meanwhile, residents of Nnewichi have called for swift justice, expressing deep concerns over the rising cases of such gruesome crimes in the state. The tragedy comes barely a month after another shocking incident in Nise, Awka South LGA, where three young boys were found dead inside a parked vehicle in their parents’ compound, with their mouths bound and bloodstains inside the car, indicating a sinister act
