PDP OBOKUN CHAIRMANSHIP CANDIDATE’S MEDIA AIDES ESCAPE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT IN HON. WOLE OKE’S HOMETOWN, ESA-OKE
Tension gripped the town of Esa-Oke today as unknown gunmen attacked two young men, Prince Ade Adeleye and Comr. Adeyeye Oluwaseyi, during a local government election campaign rally for the PDP Chairmanship Candidate in Obokun Local Government, Hon. Francis Olajire Agboola (CNA). The attack, which many believe was politically motivated, took place in Ward 7, the hometown of Hon. Oluwole Oke, the federal lawmaker representing Obokun and Oriade at the National Assembly.
Eyewitnesses revealed that just before the attack, two individuals, Mercy Ayodele and one Karonwi, were seen identifying the young men to the gunmen. Moments later, the assailants fired shots into the air, causing panic among the crowd. While Prince Ade Adeleye narrowly escaped, Comr. Adeyeye Oluwaseyi was not so lucky—he was violently beaten as he tried to flee, his clothes torn apart in the process.
This attack comes after both young men had publicly questioned Hon. Oluwole Oke’s over 20-year stay in office, challenging him to step down and allow fresh leadership for the federal constituency. They had also condemned Oke’s frequent attacks on Osun State Governor, Asiwaju Jackson Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, on social media. While Governor Adeleke ignored Oke’s criticisms without resorting to violence, it now appears that those who question Oke’s own performance are met with deadly force.
The young men were also instrumental in supporting Hon. Francis Olajire Agboola (CNA) in his recent victory over Oke’s anointed chairmanship candidate, Otunba Ajibola Olujobi. Furthermore, their endorsement of Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi for the upcoming House of Representatives election has further threatened Oke’s grip on political power. Many now believe these factors led to the assassination attempt in his hometown.
The people of Obokun and Oriade Local Government are demanding answers. Why is a federal lawmaker, who freely criticizes others, unable to handle scrutiny himself? Why did he resort to violence against two young men who simply exercised their democratic rights?
This disturbing incident has raised urgent concerns about political intolerance and the dangers faced by those who dare to challenge entrenched politicians. As the investigation unfolds, one thing is clear—the people are watching, and they will not be silenced.
