The spokesperson for former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Mr. Laolu Akande, has said Osinbajo is still a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing speculations that the former Vice President had left politics or resigned from the party.
Akande, a former Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity to Osinbajo, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Lagos.
Some political analysts attribute Osinbajo’s perceived withdrawal from politics to his loss in the APC primary, while others believe he is devoting more time to his role as Global Advisor for the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet.
When asked by NAN about his former principal’s political life, Akande said he would not involve Osinbajo in personal commentary.
He emphasised that Osinbajo had not informed him of any decision to leave politics and that, to his knowledge, he remains a member of the APC.
Akande added that Osinbajo would attend any APC event that required his presence.
“I don’t want to get the man (Osinbajo) involved in my own commentary, but there is no reason to think that he is no longer in the APC. He is still a member of the APC.
“If he gets an invitation to the caucus, you know, he will be there. I don’t know anything about him leaving the party,” Akande said
