Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, who disclosed that the selection followed thorough consultations and divinations conducted by the Oyomesi, the traditional kingmakers of Oyo.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, also confirmed the approval, noting that the decision brings an end to the socio-political and legal disputes that have trailed the throne since the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, on April 22, 2022.
