Adeyanju also said criticizing and holding government accountable is not a crime, rather Obi should be commended for his boldness and patriotism.

Adeyanju said this in a statement signed by himself, which he said: “I condemn the threat to HE Peter Obi’s life for been a vocal voice of opposition in Nigeria. No harm or persecution must come to him.

“Criticizing and holding the government accountable cannot be a crime but must be commended as the greatest sign of patriotism.”

He also added, “Nigeria is sinking into a full-blown dictatorship and a one-party state before our very eyes and all the concerns of HE Peter Obi are timely and spot on.”

Meanwhile, Obi, earlier on Monday via X wrote that he allegedly received threats to his life and family due to his New Year message delivered during a press conference in Abuja titled ‘Nigeria Needs Selfless and Exemplary Leadership’, which is for the government to address the plight of Nigerians as their situation is getting worse.

He said his message was described as inciting, and that he has “crossed the line”, which according to him was an accusations attempting to silence critical voices in the country.

He wrote, “Have I really crossed the line? My New Year message has now led to threats against my life, my family, and those around me. While I have received all sorts of messages, one Mr. Felix Morka has gone further to accuse me of ‘crossing the line’ and has warned that I will face the consequences.”
