Moses Jituboh, the former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan is dead.
Jituboh died on Friday at the age of 54 after a brief illness.
Sources said efforts are underway to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Jituboh served as Jonathan’s ADC during his tenure as governor of Bayelsa State and continued in the role when Jonathan became Vice President and later President of Nigeria.
After Jonathan’s loss in the 2015 presidential election, Jituboh returned to regular police duties, where he rose through the ranks and was, at one point, considered for the position of Inspector General of Police.
He retired from the Nigeria Police Force in 2023, having served as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in charge of the Department of Research and Planning and later the Department of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at Force Headquarters.
The Zone 16 Police Command, headquartered in Bayelsa State, has expressed its condolences to the Jituboh family and the people of Bayelsa.
In a statement by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Emonena Gunn, AIG Adebola Hamzat described Jituboh’s death as a profound loss.
“He was enlisted into the Police Force on the 10th of June 1994 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. His contributions to the Nigeria Police Force, dedication to service, and integrity can never be forgotten,” the statement read.
The police pointed out Jituboh’s enduring legacy of professionalism and commitment, noting that his death is a significant loss not only to his immediate family but also to the people of Bayelsa State, the Nigeria Police Force, and the nation as a whole.
