Makinde, who expressed optimism that the state would benefit immensely in Intra African trade through African Continental Free Trade Area, emphasized that his administration is committed to leaving a lasting legacy that will guarantee a positive future.

Governor Makinde also noted that the program was part of his plan to take people from ‘poverty to property’, reiterating his commitment to expand the state’s economy and reducing its reliance on federal allocations.

Earlier in presentation, Chairperson, technical working of the forum, Ms. Neo Tlhaselo, said the forum was for crucial conversation about future of trade, economic empowerment and role of stakeholders in achieving set goals.

In their separate keynote addresses, Osun state Commissioner for commerce and industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenrayo and Executive Director, Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Noyen Ayeni, represented by Southwest regional coordinator, Ganiyu Agbolagade, expressed readiness to support Oyo State to achieve its vision.

While encouraging stakeholders to be committed and see the program as a collective task, they noted that, the project would boost trade, foster economic growth and accelerate state development.
