The Osun State Government has announced that the implementation of the newly approved minimum wage of N75,554.20 for civil servants will commence on December 1, 2024.

The approval follows the successful conclusion of negotiations between the state government and organised labour unions.

In addition to the wage increase, the government has also approved an across-the-board addition of N25,000 for all pensioners, with arrears of the minimum wage to be paid alongside November salaries for workers.

Speaking at the formal signing of the agreement, Osun’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, on Friday, highlighted that the decision underscores Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to fostering a motivated and satisfied workforce.

“This development demonstrates the Adeleke administration’s determination to maintain a happy labour force and prioritise the welfare of workers and retirees alike,” Alimi stated.

Present at the event were the state chairmen of the Trade Union Congress and Nigeria Labour Congress, Abimbola Fasasi and Christopher Arapasopo.

Commending the harmonious resolution of the negotiations, Osun’s Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, praised Adeleke’s compassionate leadership, which he said had exceeded expectations.
