The budget allocates N157.97 billion (23.15%) for recurrent expenditure and N524.27 billion (76.85%) for capital expenditure. This represents a 40% increase from the previous year’s budget of N200.54 billion.

The largest allocation goes to education, with N95.99 billion (14%), followed by agriculture and livestock development with N81.84 billion (12%). Other key sectors include works, housing, and transport (N9.68 billion, 10%), rural and social development (N58.73 billion, 9%), water resources (N53.83 billion, 8%), environment (N49.84 billion, 7%), and health (N43.88 billion, 6%). Security receives the smallest allocation of 3%, amounting to N18.94 billion. Additionally, 31% of the budget (N230.76 billion) is earmarked for other purposes.

Governor Radda expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the 2024 budget, citing improved access to services, increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and successful projects. He highlighted the reduction of banditry and the restoration of peace in many local government areas, expressing confidence that the 2025 budget will foster further economic growth and development.

He thanked development partners, civil servants, security personnel, and other stakeholders for their contributions and paid tribute to security officers who lost their lives in service. Governor Radda also urged the State House of Assembly to expedite the passage of the 2025 budget to enable timely delivery of government promises.

The Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Nasir Yahaya Daura, assured that the Assembly would conduct a thorough analysis and rigorous oversight of the proposed budget to ensure its successful implementation. He commended Governor Radda for presenting a “Budget of Consolidation” and for his commitment to security, emphasizing the Assembly’s collaboration with the executive for the budget’s swift passage and effective execution.
