The Nigeria In Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Europe during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Athens, Greece has elected its executive members to pilot the affairs of the organisation in the next two years 2024-2026
The NIDO Europe General Assembly held from November 7th – 10th, 2024 is in recognition of importance of unity, constitutional integrity, and transparent governance within the organisation.
The elected executive members include Chancellor Harold Ogunfemi (UK South) as the Chairman,, . Vice Chairman: Prince Cima Ibezim (Italy) General Secretary: Otogo Michael (Greece),PRO / Assistant General Secretary: Engr. Shakiru K. Oladunjoye (Germany), Treasurer: Aderemi Paul Afolabi (Portugal) Financial Officer: Dr. Alexander Osarogue (Greece)
Others are Welfare and Social Events Officer: Hon Chibuzor Onwubgonu (UK South), EU Liaison Officer: Ike Okafor (Austria), Information Technology Officer: Wilson Fidel O’Neil (Italy) Officer Without Portfolio 1: Adekunle Ayoola (Poland), Officer Without Portfolio 2: Olaseni Lawal (Germany), . Legal Adviser: Ursul Atueyi (Irland)
This AGM was said to have taken place at the backdrop of recent distortions and unconstitutional maneuvers within various chapters that have threatened the solidarity of the organization, the actions was said to
have created division and attempted to separate the organization into factions, jeopardizing the very foundation of NIDO Europe and their collective mission.
In view of this, the General Assembly, as the highest authority of NIDO Europe, resolved
to enact some binding resolutions to preserve the organization’s unity and ensure adherence to constitutional principles.
The resolutions include constitution of the Board of the NIDOE-Foundation, tasked with the mandate to oversee, direct, and guide the Foundation in alignment with NIDOE’s objectives and policies.
The appointed Board members, entrusted with governance and fiduciary responsibilitie include Cllr. Harold Ogunfemi (UK South), Michael Otogo (Greece), Dr. Bashir Obasekola (Russia), Dr. Moses Ogun (Germany) Dr. Moses Ogun (Germany), Ernest Ngadiuba (Sweden) Georgian Opara (UK),Tina Ohaa (Ireland)Tina Ohaa (Ireland), Yemi Aderemi (Portugal), Carol Igboanugo (Ireland), Eugene Nwosu (Ireland).
The General Assembly further authorized the creation of the NIDOE Disciplinary Committee charged with enforcing the Code of Conduct, investigating reported transgressions, and taking appropriate action to ensure that all members adhere to the principles of respect, accountability, and unity.
The members appointed to the Committee include: Engr. Shakiru Oladunjoye (Germany), Jane Gwam (UK), Lateef Erinfolami (Poland) Remi Alao (Switzerland), Evelyn Oboh (Ireland), Yemi Ogundele (Austria)
Other resolutions that was adopted include Establishment of the Audit Committee,Adjustment of Membership and Chapter Validation Fees, Recognition and Ratification of Legitimate Chapter Leadership, Membership and Election of Leaders.
