A lone protester in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. David Ubaha, has decried the high costs of living in the country, saying that things are getting worse even after the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest.

Ubaha, a 41-year-old farmer in the Itu Local Government Area of the state had staged a lone protest in Uyo, the state capital before the #EndBadGovernance protest, in which he lamented the economic hardship being experienced in the country following the removal of oil subsidy by President Bola Tinubu.

The Akwa Ibom farmer, who spoke to newsmen on Saturday, described Tinubu’s EndBadGovernance speech as ‘empty’ adding that it failed to assuage the sufferings of Nigerians.

He said, “Things are getting worse in this country. The nationwide #EndBadgovernance protest has produced nothing, we are back to the worst situation never before experienced in this country,”

The lone protester who said he participated in the EndBadGovernance protest however faulted the protest.

He said that since the President had promised to stabilize the naira and complete the refinery by December 2023, the protesters would have given him two months ultimatum to complete the refinery and then ask for his resignation.

“President Bola Tinubu promised to stabilize our naira and build the refinery in 2023 but we are now in 2024 and nothing has happened. The organizers of the EndBadGovernance protest would have given him a month’s ultimatum to build the refinery and if he failed they would have asked for his resignation”, he said.
