Former Ondo State First Lady, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has bagged a doctorate degree from the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA.

The Nigerian aquaculturist who was the first lady of Ondo State in Nigeria from 2017 to 2023 successfully defended her PhD Thesis on Friday before a crack team of erudite professors, and the Imo State-born politician came out of the defence room smiling and jubilating.

Mrs. Akeredolu’s PhD Thesis is titled: ‘Comparative Bio-technical Models for the Production of African Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) fingerlings using Solar Powered Recirculating Aquaculture System.’

Speaking to journalists immediately after the defence, Mrs. Akeredolu dedicated the success and the certificate to the late husband and former Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON.

She added that the project has been going on for a while, but because of her public engagement as the former first lady of Ondo State, she couldn’t finish until now.

Her excitement was tinged with regret as she wished her husband were still alive to share in the glorious moment.

“I am pained that it was Aketi who motivated me to achieve this milestone, but unfortunately, he is not around to share in this success story,” Mrs. Akeredolu said.

“But despite the loss, I’m still very much grateful to him and the entire family who sacrificed everything possible for me to achieve this success story.” she added.
