Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSSIEC, has sworn in Electoral Officers, EOs, and Assistant Electoral Officers, AEOs.

This is in preparation for the local government election in February 22, 2025.

Performing the swearing-in, the Chairman of the Commission, Hashim Abioye said the move became necessary to achieve the goals of the election.

The Chairman reiterated the commitment of the Commission to the delivery of a free, credible and acceptable elections come February, 2025.

Addressing the Electoral Officers, as well as their Assistants, the OSSIEC Chairman charged them to “be focused and dedicated to their duty at all times, stressing that they are now duty bound to the Commission.”

While explaining that they owed the entire state a duty to be faithful before, during and after the LG elections, he urged the officers “to bring any observation that needs clarification to OSSIEC.”

Speaking on local government autonomy, he stated that as of now, “no other body has the constitutional competence to conduct local government election other than the State electoral body.”

According to the OSSIEC boss “the commission will properly follow due process, just as its been doing, we will ensure we deliver credible to lead the government at the grassroots level.

“We are determined to conduct an election that will go into history books, I am assuring everyone that it will be an election that no one will be able to fault.”
