The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Darlington Nwauju, has urged Tony Okocha, the recently sacked chairman of the party’s caretaker committee, to cease using protest to mislead the public.

Nwauju was reacting to the solidarity protest led by Okocha in support of President Bola Tinubu and Federal Capital Terrritory minister Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Nwauju stated that Okocha’s action, given his lack of moral authority to lead such protests or rallies, amounts to deliberate deception and public nuisance.

Referring to the judgment that led to Okocha’s removal, Nwauju emphasized his belief in the benevolence of God, asserting that no amount of struggle or conflict can alter what is predestined for anyone.

Nwauju accused Okocha of exploiting his narrative of supporting President Bola Tinubu to “manipulate the position of Commander-in-Chief for personal political gain and to garner sympathy”.

He called on all supporters of constitutional democracy and the rule of law to “respect the valid court judgment while exercising their right to appeal, including up to the Supreme Court.”

Nwauju also reminded Okocha of how he once jointly filed a lawsuit in the same high court that he now criticizes, seeking to prevent the APC from fielding candidates in the 2019 elections.
