Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has denied claims that the Russian flag was hoisted in the state during the #EndBadGovernance protest.
Sule said the report that the state was listed among those where the Russian flag was brandished during the protest was wrong.
In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Peter Ahemba, on Monday, the governor said the protest had no foothold in the state, adding that only a few people, mostly minors, joined the protest.
The statement said: “The Nasarawa State government wishes to categorically debunk this allegation in its entirety. The claim that protesters hoisted the Russian flag during the recent protest in the state has no iota of truth. The allegation is false, misleading and mischievous, to say the least.”
He noted that the protest was closely monitored by security agencies to forestall the breakdown of law and order.
“It is on record that the said nationwide protest recorded low turnout in the state in the first place, owing to the fact that most of the demands canvassed by the protesters had been substantially met by the government of His Excellency, Engr. A. A. Sule, with the support of the federal government through the various palliative schemes, hence the decision of the majority of the citizens to shun the politically-motivated protest,”
