#EndBadGovernance: Protesters Wave Russian Flag In Zamfara
Some protesters of the #EndBadGovernance in Zamfara were spotted waving the Russian flag in Gusau, the state capital On Monday.
The demonstrators, who regrouped on Monday, day 5 of the #EndBadGovernance protest, decried the security challenges that have bedeviled the North-Western state.
They lamented that the government has not taken concrete steps to address the issue, vowing to continue the protest until the government does the needful.
According to the protesters, bandits had imposed heavy taxes on them in order to avoid attacks and access their farmlands, a development which they want the government to take necessary measures to protect the people against the bandits’ activities.
Mostly comprising children and youths, the aggrieved residents marched across Gusau, notably Tundunwada, Freedom Square, Government House to Gada Biyu among other areas.
Meanwhile, security agencies, mostly operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, and the military are monitoring the protesters closely to ensure peace and order.
Heavy security operatives including Soldiers of the Nigerian Army, Police, and Department of State Service (DSS) are currently guarding the residence of the immediate past governor of Zamfara State and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
It would be recalled that the state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) had accused the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state of sponsoring protesters to attack Matawalle’s residence.
