Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi
The Asiwaju of Ijesaland,
Chairman, ICDA,
Oke Baba Okuta Villa, Ilesa.
Dear Asiwaju
I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation for your tireless efforts in empowering youths through agricultural entrepreneurship in Ijesaland. Your leadership and strategic negotiations with the Leventis Foundation Nigeria have paved the way for a transformative initiative that will undoubtedly uplift Ijesaland and foster sustainable development. Your commitment to prioritizing agriculture as a means of economic empowerment is truly commendable.
Your various steps, including the partnership with Leventis Foundation Nigeria, the training of 100 youths in modern agricultural practices, and the evaluation visit to the Osun State Farm Settlement, demonstrate your dedication to achieving your mission. I am particularly impressed by your efforts to revitalize the Esa-Oke Farm Settlement and your willingness to donate a brand new water pumping machine to restore the supply of drinking water to the farm.
In Nigeria, food scarcity has reached alarming levels, with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reporting that about 21.4 million Nigerians were severely food insecure as of 2023. This scarcity has led to significant price hikes in agricultural products, further exacerbating the challenges faced by many Nigerians. The initiatives led by ICDA are not just timely but essential in combating these pressing issues and ensuring food security for Ijesaland and beyond.
As an award-winning agripreneur and a committed youth to agriculture, I humbly request that the ICDA team consider including youths in their team. This will not only provide us with valuable experience but also ensure that we are equipped to take over the reins when the time comes. Furthermore, I humbly request that a portion of the farm settlements be allocated to youths to start up their agricultural expertise. This will greatly assist us in overcoming the challenge of sourcing funds to start our agribusinesses.
Allocating settlements to youths will lead to the evolution of a youth agricultural scheme, enabling us to support ourselves financially, adopt environmentally sustainable practices, and develop innovative approaches. A modern agricultural productivity market will also emerge, developed strongly with digital skills and e-commerce skills that we already possess. I have a substantial list of internationally recognized agripreneurs from Ijesaland who are eager to utilize the resources available for the development of Ijesaland through agriculture.
Additionally, the implementation of youth-focused agricultural initiatives will not only reduce unemployment rates but also create a ripple effect, inspiring more youths to venture into agribusiness. This, in turn, will contribute to the overall economic growth of Ijesaland and our nation at large.
I kindly request that you consider my suggestions, as they are critical for nation-building, especially at this time when our nation is battling food scarcity and price hikes in agricultural products. I appreciate your dedication to the development of Ijesaland and look forward to the opportunity to discuss my suggestions further.
Once again, thank you for your efforts, and I eagerly await your review of my suggestions.
Sincerely,
Prince Adebusuyi Tobiloba ADELEYE
