DAILY POST reports that the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress had last Sunday at a press conference alleged that some cabinet members of the state government have been invited for interrogation by the anti-graft agency over high-profile fraud in the award of contracts.

The Acting State Chairman of the party, Emperor Jarret Tenebe, at the press briefing also called on EFCC to invite some government officials for questioning.

Reacting, the Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare at a press briefing titled, “State of the Nation address said no member of the State Executive Council has been invited by the EFCC.

Nehikhare noted that the main opposition party in the state is spreading falsehood and propaganda to curry favours from members of the public ahead of the forthcoming September 21, 2024 governorship election in the state.

He said the Obaseki-led government has been transparent, and accountable in the appropriation of state’s resources more than the successive governments in the state.

He also added that the government in terms of infrastructural development had surpassed the previous governments as well as attracted more investors to the state than any government before him.

“It is such a show of shame to see them sit before pressmen waving worthless pieces of papers as evidence for non-existent fraud allegations against a State Government that has enthroned transparency and accountability in the cause of the administration of State’s resources.

“As a party whose foundation was built on a web of lies and deceit, no gainsaying, the same way they manufactured this worthless paper is the same way they manufactured the court papers which they used in misinforming and misleading the Edo people on the candidacy of the PDP candidate. All in a desperate effort to hoodwink the people.

“The governorship election in Edo State is around the corner and just the way they fooled the entire nation into bondage, they are hoping to replicate the same in Edo State.

“They know that the PDP is the best choice for the continued progress and prosperity of the State and will not allow lies and propaganda by their oppressors to cloud their judgment and stop them from making informed decisions for a better future for themselves and their unborn children”, he said.
