According to sources close to the matter, the disgruntled lawmakers, mostly newcomers, have petitioned Governor Seyi Makinde, seeking his intervention in the crisis. They allege that the House leadership has withheld funds meant for their constituency projects and personal allowances, sparking tensions within the legislative chamber.

The petitioners are also rejecting a proposed purchase of 2021 official cars for lawmakers, insisting on the latest 2024 models. This demand has been seen as a bold move, challenging the traditional practices of the House.

Insiders reveal that this is not the first time such a crisis has rocked the Oyo State House of Assembly. Similar disputes in the past have led to the removal of committee chairmanships and memberships, sparking fears among lawmakers of repercussions for their political careers.

The situation has created a political rift within the Assembly, with some lawmakers supporting the Speaker and others backing the aggrieved lawmakers. The crisis is poised to significantly shift the political landscape of the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Meanwhile, further findings disclosed to eaglessightnews on this incident by an insider under anonymousity explained that contrary to some viral reports that the lawmakers are against the Governor and embarking on the speaker ‘s impeachment , what the lawmakers demand for is greater transparency.

The lawmakers are not against Governor Seyi Makinde in anyway , they only seeked for more transparency, inclusiveness and accountability from the speaker ” The source added
