Finidi George has stepped down as the Super Eagles head coach
According to reports Finidi George has resigned as the head coach of the Nigerian national team.
The future of the three-time African champions is now unknown following this shocking revelation from a reliable source close to the situation.
Finidi who was recently appointed as the Super Eagles head coach, has now relinquished the position after just four games in charge.
The former Eyimba boss was underfire as a result of Nigeria’s poor results in their last two World Cup qualifiers outings, which saw them pick up just one point in both games.
A 1-1 draw against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa coupled with the shocking 2-1 defeat against Benin Republic leaves Nigeria’s hopes of making it to the 2026 World Cup in jeopardy. The Super Eagles are currently fifth on the standing, having managed just three points from a possible 12.
They would require near perfect results in the remaining games of the qualifying campaign to revive hopes of clinching a place at the World Cup finals in Qatar.
With Finidi George’s alleged resignation, a search for a replacement is imminent as the Nigeria Football Federation will be preparing to find a suitable personel to fill the void left by the former Eyimba boss.
