UN Deputy Secretary-General Hajiya Amina Mohammed commended the Tinubu administration during a High-Level Dialogue on Delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda, themed “Nigeria’s Global Ambitions: From Hope to Reality.” She noted, “Over the past year, Nigeria has seen remarkable progress due to the reforms introduced by this administration to stabilise the economy. The country has notably improved, and the government has proactively addressed security challenges, as demonstrated by hosting an African counter-terrorism meeting last month.”

Mohammed also highlighted initiatives like the nationwide digital literacy programme and the expansion of broadband infrastructure, which aim to bridge the digital divide and empower citizens in the digital age.

In a goodwill message, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, expressed the UK’s support for Tinubu’s security strategies and commitment to transparency and accountability in governance. “We commend the Renewed Hope Agenda for its focus on priorities and delivery. The UK stands ready to support Nigeria in achieving these goals,” Montgomery said.

Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment Dr Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite opened the forum by thanking participants and emphasising the importance of international cooperation in advancing Nigeria’s economic agenda under President Tinubu.

Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris praised Vice President Shettima’s leadership in organising the forum marking the first anniversary of the Tinubu administration. He stressed the significance of international partnerships in realising the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Minister of Budget and National Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, reflected on the past year’s achievements and challenges, asserting that the administration remains committed to renewing hope for Nigerians. He thanked VP Shettima for his presence, confirming Nigeria’s appreciation for international cooperation in achieving its development plans.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on International Cooperation, Mr Dapo Oyewole, representing Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to building beneficial global partnerships. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s foreign policy will continue to accommodate the interests of all Nigerians and ensure mutual and beneficial partnerships with all nations,” Oyewole stated.

Bank of Industry Managing Director Dr Olasupo Olusi highlighted the event as a critical reflection point for harnessing international cooperation to achieve the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasised the transformative power of strategic partnerships in driving economic growth and fostering inclusive development under Tinubu’s leadership.

Other notable attendees included Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President); Mrs. Uju Kenedy Ohaneye, Minister of Women Affairs; Ambassador Samuel Isopi, European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS; Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination and Head of Central Delivery Unit; the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission; and the Acting Country Director of the World Bank, Nigeria.
