Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested four suspects for allegedly stealing six batteries from Airtel Telecommunications mast valued at N12 million.

Nwabuzor identified the suspects as Otete Emmanuel, Onya Ndubisi, Oliver Sodenyi and Okuru Benedict.

He alleged that the suspects, who wore green reflective jacket, drove a white Toyota Hilux marked EPE 328 HY and packed at Imorta Filling Station along Benin-Agbor Expressway, Benin City.

He explained that the suspects were arrested by operatives of Okhuaihe Divisional Police while responding to a distress call from the command’s control room.

The command’s image maker, added that when the suspects’ vehicle was searched and nothing incriminating was recovered from them.

He disclosed that the distress caller, one Robert Daniel who reported the incident at the Okhuaihe Division, however, confronted the suspects that he saw them while stealing the six batteries.

Nwabuzor said the suspects in their statements denied the allegations and any involvement in the incident.

He said investigation has commenced and the suspects will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Benin for discreet investigation.
