I Have No Regret Pulling Down Gov. Alia’s Portrait – Rep Agbese

The Deputy Spokesman of the House of Reps and member of the House for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo (Enone), Hon. Agbese Philip has laughed off threats from a group of supporters of Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, to recall him from the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.

He says the Alia supporters are free to commence the process, even as he maintains he has no regrets taking down the photo of the governor off the walls of his office at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

Recall that Hon. Agbese had penultimate week made an open show of taking off the wall of his office the official portrait of Governor Alia, citing as his reason for doing so, that the governor was no longer fit to be regarded by him as a leader.

The Enone representative had been particularly resentful of the Benue State governor’s open contempt for due process and the rule of law as exemplified in his appointment of caretaker committees for the 23 local government councils of the state in blatant disregard of a resolution of the Senate barring him from doing so.

This was even as a series of judgements from courts of competent jurisdiction, including the National Industrial Court (NICN) and the Benue State High Court, had precluded the governor from tampering with the mandate of the 23 elected local government council administrations in the state.
