Special adviser to Katsina State governor on girl-child education, Hajiya Jamila Abdu Mani, has declared that every girl-child in the state will be educated and made to acquire skills under the present administration.
She made the promise at the handing over of N10,000 cash to some trained girls who recently graduated from a skills acquisition centre in the state, adding that the education of every girl-child to acquire both Islamic and Western knowledge becomes paramount in the state
Hajiya Mani added that already the government has sent a bill to prohibit street hawking during school hours to the State House of Assembly for consideration, to boost enrollment of children in schools.
While stressing that the present administration had been putting modalities in place to end all challenges facing the girl-child in the state, she said the recently commissioned sexual assault referrer centre was set up to address the issue of female assaults in the state.
“Women are facing gender-based violence and victimisation, they are too shy to visit the hospital when their rights have been tampered with or abused, the centre will provide them with all the necessary care needed. They will be counselled and seek justice for them.
“Katsina State has never established a sexual assault referrer centre except now. Being the first of its kind in the state, we are partnering with the Ministry of Health to provide doctors, laboratory technicians and counsellors to render services for us here,” she said.
