Saheed Sarumi, an illustrious son of ijesaland has graciously donated a sum of one billion naira (N1b) to the newly established state varsity in Osun State. The University is an upgrade of the existing college of education in Ilesa.
Sarumi paid the money in tranches of 350 million naira for 3 years.
It will be recalled that the executive bill upgrading Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to a full fledged university has just been passed into law.
Meanwhile patriotic ijesas under the chairmanship of the Sawe of Ilesa, chief Akin Akinola and the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Chief Yinka Fasuyi have promised to support the government with a sum of 500 million naira to start the processing.
Governor Oyetola acceded the yearning of the Ìjẹ̀sà for the upgrade of the college to a university when he came to open the over 1 billion naira geriatrics hospital built by the ijesas to support the tertiary health institution owned by the Federal governments at OAUTHC Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa.
