Airline operator impressario and the National Asociation of Aircrafts Pilots and Engineers, NAAPE; Outstanding Contibutors awardee, Captain Ibrahim Mshelia has called on Nigerians with interest in the Aviation industry to buckle up and save the industry from collapse.
The Chairman of Mish Aviation Training School told our Abuja Bureau Chief in a telephone chat after the 25th annual seminar of League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents, LAAC, that, the aviatiin industry will survive the current heat if for instance, landing and parking charges for domestic airlines are made free as a way of cushioning the biting effects of covid-19 pandemic on the economy.
Speaking further on the issue of internally generated revenue (IGR) by the sector, Mshelia said that, airlines will fare better with less of the surcharges while appealing to the government to review the situation and factor the technical staff of the agencies providing direct services for the airline into revenue generated to save cost.
He posited that the aviation industry will provide more jobs for Nigerians when the needful are justifiably implemented for the benefit of all concerned.
“As a professional, I have the courage to cry out now to salvage the situation while it is still minute. By so doing, i am helping the sector not to fold up and save the nation from international disgrace. We must not allow Nigeria to sink because we have no other country to call our own, he concluded.
