How Obaseki’s victory is driving investments by Edo people in Diaspora – Realtor


THE recent victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki in the September 19th governorship election is already yielding dividends and it has encouraged more direct investment in the state by several Edo people in the Disapora.
Checks reveal that since the election, there is upsurge in investment in real estate by several Edo sons and daughters abroad, a development that has been attributed to confidence building because of the outcome of the election.
In a chat with newsmen in Benin City, a businessman with interests in real estate, Eghosa Agbonifo said what is happening is a manifestation of true democracy at work and the direct impact of dividends of democracy on the common man which he said remained one of the focuses of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration.
He said: “The recent victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki boosted the confidence of our brothers and sisters in the Diaspora. In the last few weeks, we have been experiencing a boost in the real estate sector of the economy of the state and mostly by Edo people in Disapora. This is a confidence booster for the governor as he prepares for his second term.
“What makes this development more interesting is the number of jobs these investments will create for our teeming youths and artisans. It means more work for the bricklayers, block moulders, mixers, tillers painters, wood workers, carpenters, the food sellers and several other persons in the chain of production. These categories of workers have several persons who depend on them for their own survival.
“These are some of the things you get when you allow the peoples’ will to prevail in a democracy Governor Obaseki has brought a new leaf to our democratic culture and development”
