Suspected gunmen attack Governor’s village, kill 3, injure 3



Three persons have been killed in a fresh attack by unknown gunmen at Tse Apera village, in Nzorov, in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The Villege is home to Samuel Ortom, the Governor of Benue state.

According to a source identified as Tsebgan, the attackers who unleashed mayhem were about four in number, he said they were speaking their own language while carrying out their killing spree, he also said the men knocked on people’s door, and when they come out, they shoot the person.

He said, “I fled to the bush as soon as I heard people shouting and crying, while in the bush, I saw three dead bodies, one of the corpse had his head cut off with a machete.”

Caleb Aba, the Chairman of Guma Local Government area, confirmed the incident, he told newsman that three bodies were found in the bush, with one beheaded.

Caleb said the men attacked the village around 5am, on Sunday morning, he also said the men shot at anyone who came out of their homes.

The Chairman said six villagers who sustained injuries were rushed to the hospital to receive medical attention, however, one died few minutes later.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP, Catherine Anene, when contacted confirmed the attack on the village, but she said it was only two persons that were killed in the attack
