Tell Us You Have A Joker, OSM Supporters Threaten To Dump Obaseki For POI As INEC Backs Oshiomhole

The picture is getting clearer as APC party primary draws closer. Already the battle for the APC ticket is getting more fascinating as political aspirants have engaged themselves in last-minute manoeuvres to outwit one another.

The APC is set to screen six gubernatorial aspirants for the Governorship ticket of the party.

First of all the incumbent Governor from the ruling party, APC wanted a consensus candidacy. Obaseki said as a sitting Governor he deserves the right of first refusal.

Obaseki who is accused of alienating his party members and leaders have always argued that a consensus candidacy that gives birth to his emergence is the best bet for all and sundry in the party.

According to him it completely erases money to be spent on party primaries and also rancour and division amongst party members.

The National Working Committee of the APC thought otherwise and overruled the right of first refusal saying it has no place in their constitution.

Obaseki undaunted now pushed for an indirect primary as a mode of conduct for the election, the indirect primary involves the participation of a few delegates to determine who would fly the party’s flag.

Again the party overruled Obaseki’s objection and adopted the direct primary as a mode for the conduct of the party’s election.

With the insistence of the party on a direct primary, Obaseki has been thrown into a tight corner.

Obaseki’s last resort was the law courts. The Edo State Governor immediately approached the courts to restrain the party from screening Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and stopping the party from conducting a direct primary.

The suit was postponed for further hearing to the 17th of June.

Whereas the screening of aspirants is scheduled to hold on the 10th of June.

With the numerous strings of failures in Obaseki stopping the party from going ahead with the direct primary as a mode of conduct for the election, members of his political think tank, the Obaseki Shaibu Movement are questioning the political game plan of their principal.

To worsen matters for the Obaseki’s political family the INEC in a press release said the body by law can only relate with the National Leadership of the party as regards decision on the mode of primaries to be conducted by political parties.

This endorsement of the rules and guidelines as set by the Oshiomhole’s camp has thrown Obaseki’s supporters into a state of deep confusion.

They are seriously lamenting on the style of politics the Lagos based Obaseki is playing.
They are demanding that Obaseki should come and tell them the joker he has up his sleeves.

They say now is the time they need to look after their own self-preservation politically.

“Obaseki should quit these his games he keeps playing with us, the Governor has continued to shoot himself in the foot with each step he takes and this is now worrisome to us as party supporters, remember we have our own self-preservation too, politics is not all about oneself it is a collective effort.

As the governor has an interest in the Governoship ticket so also we the followers have our own political stake.

The Governor can not feign ignorance that all is well because we do not want to be led astray “like sheep to the slaughter”.

Enough is enough Obaseki should come and tell us which political direction he faces.
It is sad and reprehensible to neglect the feelings of party supporters because of your selfish agenda.

The Governor has always made it look like he was in charge of the political structure in the state, he fought the national chairman and lost, now he wants to fight the NWC also, who does that? the governor is dragging his party to court and still yet hopes to go for screening before the same party members.

If Obaseki does not come out and tell us his political direction in the next 24 hrs we shall dump him and throw our support for Pastor Osagie Ize-iyamu.

What is your Joker Governor Obaseki?
That was how the senior member of the Obaseki Shaibu Movement who pleaded Anonymity was quoted as saying.

The die is cast as APC has fixed June 22 for the conduct of a direct party primary to determine who flies its ticket.
