Opinion: We Are The Government
To many, perhaps more today than in some generations past, ‘politics’ is a dirty word. Yet the political permeates our social lives on the most personal of levels as well as more generally.
Politicians are a reflection of the people. Citizens should learn to hold their political leaders accountable.
It is never enough to say, ‘What is my business,’ ‘let them do as they like’ etc.
The truth is the people are the government.
We must show interest in the affairs of our nation.
Leaders are servants, and thus the people must ensure they serve right and deliver their promises.
Show interest in governance, ask questions! Make your leaders accountable. Never look away because we are the government.
