ICRC Confirms Killing Of Kidnapped Midwife Aid Worker

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed on Tuesday that an abducted health worker in Nigeria has been murdered by her captors, and named her as Hauwa Mohammed Liman, a 24-year-old midwife.

On Monday, the Nigerian government said that a medical aid worker held hostage since March was killed by Islamist militants after their deadline expired.

“The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) received information indicating that Hauwa Mohammed Liman has been killed by her captors in a despicable act of cruelty,” the Geneva-based aid agency said in a statement, noting that she was the second health worker to be killed by captors in a month.
